I Konfess, sometimes the hardest person to convince of our potential is ourselves.
There’s something beautiful about the beginning of an idea. The excitement of imagining what could be. The quiet anticipation of something new. The possibilities seem endless when we allow ourselves the freedom to dream.
But somewhere between imagining and doing, uncertainty has a way of introducing itself.
What begins as excitement slowly becomes hesitation. Questions replace confidence, and suddenly, the very thing that once inspired us feels a little further out of reach.
Not necessarily because circumstances have changed, but because our perspective has.
It’s interesting how easily we can recognize potential in others while questioning the possibilities within ourselves.
We encourage people to pursue their dreams, celebrate their accomplishments, and remind them that every meaningful journey begins somewhere.
Yet, when it’s our turn, we sometimes struggle to extend ourselves that same encouragement.
Perhaps it’s the fear of disappointment. Perhaps it’s the uncertainty of stepping into unfamiliar territory. Or maybe it’s simply the comfort of remaining where things feel predictable.
Whatever the reason, self-doubt can become a quiet barrier between where we are and where we hope to be.
And sometimes, we don’t even recognize the opportunities we’ve placed beyond our own reach.
But I’ve been thinking about something lately.
What if we gave possibility the same attention we give uncertainty?
What if, instead of immediately considering everything that could go wrong, we allowed ourselves to imagine what might go right?
Not with the expectation that every effort will result in success, but with the understanding that every experience offers an opportunity to learn, grow, and discover something about ourselves.
There is grace in acknowledging our hesitation.
There is courage in moving forward despite it.
And there is something incredibly freeing about realizing we don’t have to know every outcome before allowing ourselves to begin.
Growth doesn’t always require a grand gesture. Sometimes it begins with a small decision to revisit an idea, pursue an interest, or take a step toward something we’ve quietly hoped for.
The possibilities may not always unfold the way we imagine, but they deserve the opportunity to unfold nonetheless.
So perhaps today is a good day to extend ourselves a little grace.
To recognize the potential we’ve been hesitant to explore.
To remember that uncertainty doesn’t have to mean impossibility.
And most importantly, to give ourselves permission to try.
Because sometimes the only thing standing between a possibility and its beginning is our willingness to believe it deserves a chance.
I Konfess, that’s a reminder I’m learning to embrace.
Breathe Soft. Speak Loud. Exhale, Love.
